The Alagappa Institute of Technology (AIT) is a service-oriented institution with the primary focus on providing education in emerging academic disciplines, vocational programs and in the field of performing arts. It was found in September 2001 by Mr. R. Vairavan, grandson of Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar, the founder of the Alagappa Schools, Colleges and the Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India. AIT is an integral part of the Alagappa group of Institutions that are actively involved in primary, collegiate and post graduate education.

Alagappa Institute of Information Technology (AIIT) is the Information Technology division of the group that provides educational courses representing the latest in information technology to meet the needs of our community. These efforts have already been recognized by leading Universities in South India such as the

• Pondicherry University, Pondicherry
• Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai
• Anna University, Chennai
• Madras University, Chennai

These institutions have awarded AIIT, the status of Study Center, Personal Contact Programs (PCP) center, Information Center, for their undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. AIIT further imparts computer training to more than 1500 Alagappa school students every year and has been successful in providing training to more than1000 students in information technology.

AIT has its headquarters in Chennai and has established subsidiaries in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, Jamshedpur, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It is actively enhancing its educational programs and as well participating in a number of challenging IT projects in various disciplines for domestic and international clients.

Our mission is to provide a wide spectrum of educational programs representing the latest in information technology that are beneficial to our students and the community to enhance their skill set and to enable them to meet the growing needs of the industry.

OUR RICH HERITAGE

Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar was a visionary who believed that education was an absolute necessity for a human being to become productive, wholesome and humane. Responding to the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s call to industrialists to set up educational institutions, he was quick to set up a cluster of educational institutions which today form the core of the Alagappa University in Karaikudi.

A host of eminent personalities from Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, to Presidents of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, to industrialists and royalty such as the Mysore Maharajah, have graced the inauguration of various Alagappa Institutions with their presence.

AIT, located in the heart of the Alagappa Schools campus in Chennai was officially inaugurated on 19th November, 1999 by the then Education Minister of Tamil Nadu Prof. Anbazhagan and has since emerged as a Centre of Excellence in education.

OUR INSTITUTION

AIIT has been designed to provide an academic ambience, conducive for learning. The Institute in Chennai and Karaikudi has been equipped with state of the art hardware and software, which clearly distinguish it from the rest of such centers in the city. Our faculty members have been carefully selected based on their academic background and teaching ability. We have nurtured and developed the organization with a strong determination, character, integrity, work ethics and commitment.

OUR TRACK RECORD

During our relatively short history, the philosophy of concentrating on quality and commitment has resulted in an impressive record, culminating in success one after the other. The enrollment of students has increased consistently year by year for courses designed and developed by the Institute. Apart from this, we have been successful in imparting computer education to the students and staff of the Alagappa Schools in Chennai and Karaikudi.

Personal Contact Program (PCP) classes conducted on behalf of universities such as Alagappa University, Pondicherry University, Tamilnadu Open University, Anna University and Sikkim Manipal University have been a resounding success and as a result we have been awarded with further such affiliations with other universities.

We have been recognized as an examination center for Pondicherry University, Alagappa University, Madras University, Manipal University (Distance Education & Medical and Engineering Entrance exams), and Annamalai University and we have been conducting the respective university exams for the past 5 years.

NOVEL SOFTWARE AND ITS FEATURES

School Management System (SMS)

SMS is a browser based Application for Complete School/College Administration. The (Unique Selling Proposition) USP is that it substantiates by providing instant information for Student / Teacher/ Management/ Administration / Finance or Parent with proper modular access restriction for the users and is user friendly.

The main objective in implementing the SMS is to record & provide information about the School/Student transactions to the department concerned. The SMS is extensive and caters to various operational areas like Student & Parent Profile, Performance, Fees Details, Discipline, Library, Hostel Information, Staff Profile, Payroll, Question Bank, On Line Exam (Objective Type), School Activity, School Asset information etc.,

Implementation of SMS provides better MIS. The information can be made available over the internet also with server space etc. Simply put SMS enables Information to be available ANYTIME / ANYWHERE ACROSS THE GLOBE.

Our intra network connects various departments of the School, from finance, to the Administrative Offices of the Trust, to the Fee Collection counter to the Reception of the Alagappa Schools, the Preparatory and Matriculation Schools. The network components are modular and can be deployed as per the requirements of the day, and can be upgraded to future requirements.

Our intra network connects various departments of the School, from Finance to Administrative offices. We provide total IT support to the Administrative offices of the Trust managing the Alagappa Schools, to the Play School, Preparatory, Matriculation and Higher Secondary Schools in Chennai and Karaikudi. The network components are modular and can be deployed as per the requirements of the day, and can be upgraded to future requirements.
